Doheny State Beach is still feeling the effects of Sunday’s sewage spill at a Santa Margarita Water District pump station in Mission Viejo that sent 3,600 gallons of waste water spewing into Oso Creek. The spill shut down the state beach for the second time in two months.
Orange County Health Care Agency spokeswoman Monica Mazur said Wednesday that daily tests revealed bacteria levels in the waters off of the state beach still exceed a number of state standards.
Officials warned that anyone entering the water risks infection that could cause nausea, diarrhea, gastrointestinal problems and throat irritation.
