The local Katuktu Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, is holding its 1999 American history essay contest for fifth- through 12th-grade students in the Tustin Unified School District.
This year’s topics are “An Obituary for George Washington” for grades five through eight and “If Christopher Columbus returned to the New World in the year 2000, what evidence of his discovery would he find?” for grades nine through 12.
The essays must be submitted to the district office by Dec. 1. Information: (714) 730-7339.
