Irvine Women Beat Minnesota

Megan Stafford had 18 points and eight rebounds to help UC Irvine defeat Minnesota, 65-54, Sunday in women’s basketball at the Bren Center.

Minnesota (2-2) closed to within six points with 3 minutes 43 seconds remaining, but Chelsea Mackey, who had 15 points and seven rebounds, made a 10-footer and Megan Stafford made a three-pointer to put Irvine (3-1) ahead, 59-48. Minnesota never threatened again.
