DuPont Co. plans to acquire CombiChem, which creates computer models designed to predict whether an experimental drug will work, for $95 million in cash. DuPont would keep CombiChem’s main operations in San Diego and software programmers in Palo Alto. There will be layoffs among its 93 workers; no figure was disclosed.
