Still more award news. . . .
Cafe Tu Tu Tango, at the Block in Orange, recently walked off with honors for Best Kids Menu during the California Restaurant Assn.’s convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The kids menu fits the restaurant’s theme: an artist’s studio in Barcelona. One side of the menu lists such items as spaghetti, grilled cheese sandwich, chicken fingers and pizza. The other side has a drawing and a panel of watercolor paints. Kids can dampen their fingers or use a brush or cotton swab to make their painting.
“Art is a very big part of the restaurant’s concept and we’ve been able to carry that to the kids’ level,” said Lee Healy, spokeswoman for the Cafe Tu Tu Tango. “You want to be able to keep kids entertained while they are waiting for their food.”
The menu, created by Cafe Tu Tu Tango founder Brad Weiser. also includes an elementary explanation of the art movement and serves as an introduction to art for the kids.
The Florida-based chain’s only Southern California location is in Orange County, but it will soon open a restaurant at Universal CityWalk.
