Boy on Tricycle Run Over, Killed

A 3-year-old Huntington Beach boy riding his tricycle was killed Friday when he was run over by a neighbor backing a car out of a driveway, police said.
The boy, who was not identified by police, suffered massive head and internal injuries after a car driven by a 24-year-old man backed out and struck the youth, who was riding on the sidewalk, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ron Burgess said.
Paramedics responded to the accident, which happened about 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Cornell Drive. The boy was taken to Huntington Beach Hospital, where he died a short time later.
No charges were filed against the driver. Police are still investigating.
