Car Strikes, Kills Boy in Driveway

HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 3-year-old boy riding his tricycle was killed Friday when he was run over by a neighbor backing a car out of a driveway, police said.
The boy, who was not identified by police, suffered massive head and internal injuries after the car struck him, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ron Burgess said. The boy was riding on the sidewalk at the time, he added.
Paramedics responded to the accident, which happened about 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Cornell Drive. The boy was transported to Huntington Beach Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
No charges were filed against the driver. Police are still investigating the incident.
