The City Council will vote tonight on whether to approve the removal of railroad tracks on Western and Cerritos avenues. If the measure passes, the track removal will represent a continuation of street improvements made in Stanton over the last two years.
The tracks are remnants of the Red Line that used to run from Santa Ana through Stanton. Mayor Harry Dotson said the Orange County Transportation Authority previously wanted to keep the tracks in order to maintain the option of reopening the Red Line.
