Low-Flying Navy Planes

Re “Steve Beal,” Ventura County letters, Sept. 12.
I found this letter to be quite laughable. The writer states that retiring Naval officer Stephen Beal “has new ideas and imaginative ways to capitalize on research and development.” Well, one of these so-called ideas was to authorize jets flying 100 feet above the ocean toward the Navy’s Surface Warfare Engineering Facility (SWEF) at the end of the Silver Strand Beach area. This was stopped by concerned residents who did not want to risk a jet plowing into the local school or their homes.
Maybe some people have blind faith in our military, however this veteran does not.
