Dole Food Co., the world’s biggest seller of fresh fruit, said it will use Tradingproduce.com for online business for its Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. subsidiary.
Dole, based in Westlake Village, chose closely held Tradingproduce.com because its services were secure, easy to use and inexpensive, Dole said in a statement.
Tradingproduce.com doesn’t charge clients transaction fees, instead making money through financial consulting, analysis and other services.
The San Francisco company is backed by a $950-million investment by Bay Isle in San Francisco, Silicon Valley Private Investors and vTraction, an affiliate of Rabobank Nederland.
