El Toro’s Mendiola Is a Triple Threat

El Toro stayed in the thick of the South Coast League girls’ basketball race, drilling visiting Capistrano Valley, 71-46, Thursday night.
Giuliana Mendiola had one of her most complete games of the year with her second triple-double for the fourth-ranked Chargers (18-5, 7-1). The senior guard had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. She also had seven assists.
Capistrano Valley (15-8, 4-4) scored seven points in the first quarter and only one field goal in the third. Lindsay Peloza scored 13 points for the Cougars.
