Hearing on Trail Proposal Scheduled

The Ventura County Transportation Commission decided Friday to hear public comments next month on a proposed 32-mile bike and pedestrian path.
The master plan and environmental impact report on the Santa Paula Branch Line Trail, which would transform a rail corridor into a recreational trail, is opposed by many farmers who are fearful of vandalism, trespassing and liability.
At the transportation panel meeting Friday, several people, including a representative from the Ventura County Bicycle Coalition and the city of Santa Paula, spoke in favor of the proposed trail.
Public testimony on the proposal will be heard at 1 p.m. March 3 at Camarillo City Hall.
