“We don’t call them runways for nothing!”
That’s the slogan behind Saturday’s 20th annual race at the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center. The event caters to everyone from the 5K and 10K runners to walkers and youngsters. A 5K March of Olympic Champions walk will also be held, along with a 1/2K kids’ run.
The race course, which makes its way along the airfield, goes something like this: Run to the UH-50 Blackhawk, turn left at the F-18 and make a U-turn at the C-5 cargo plane.
The 5K run starts at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K walk at 8:05 a.m. The 10K run starts at 8:45 a.m., followed by the kids’ fun run at 10:15 a.m.
Registration fees are $23. All participants receive a commemorative T-shirt.
To register on the day of the race, go to Building No. 912 in Hangar No. 3.
