UC Irvine 47, New Mexico State 44--A last-second three-pointer by New Mexico State’s Mari Sanchez rimmed out, securing the Big West victory at home for Irvine (8-5, 1-0).
Cindy Oparah led Irvine with 12 points and Jeanine Horton had eight rebounds and five assists. New Mexico State is 5-8, 0-1.
Nevada 87, Cal State Fullerton 62--Erin Whiteside led host Cal State Fullerton (1-12) with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Teammate Kandace Hunter added 15 points. Katie Golomb led all scorers with 23 points for Nevada (11-3).
UC San Diego 88, Chapman 62--April Abeyta scored 22 points and had eight rebounds for visiting Chapman (9-5) in a nonconference game.
