The Foothill Ranch Civic Council expanded its efforts in the political arena last week as board members resolved to campaign for the anti-El Toro airport initiative, Measure F, on the March ballot.
Proponents hope the initiative will kill plans to build an international airport on the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station by requiring two-thirds public approval for the project.
Before Wednesday’s resolution, the Civic Council board had never voted to take an official position on any ballot issues, council President Sharon Hankins said.
But Vice President Mark Marten said the Civic Council has “consistently opposed the kinds of things that Measure F [would affect]--the airport, Musick jail expansion and anything that would affect the quality of life in Foothill Ranch.”
