Donnabelle McGonigle; Native of Ventura

Donnabelle McGonigle, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Ventura County, died Tuesday at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. She was 71.
She was born Aug. 2, 1928, at her family’s home on Ash Street in Ventura, where she grew up and went to school. After graduating from Ventura High School, she went on to Ventura College.
In 1947, she married John A. McGonigle and the couple moved to a ranch in Somis. She was widowed in 1960 but raised two sons, John and Patrick, at the family ranch, where the men still live.
McGonigle was a member of San Buenaventura Mission. She enjoyed her home and ranch life, and visiting with friends at bridge clubs at Spanish Hills and Las Posas country clubs. She also loved to travel and dine out.
In addition to her sons, John and Patrick, she is survived by her mother, Winifred Wilkes, and brother William Wilkes, of Arnold, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Culbertson of El Segundo, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at San Buenaventura Mission, with Msgr. Patrick O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the San Buenaventura Mission Building Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
