More on Pothole Repair

Re “Fixing the Valley’s Potholes,” Valley letters, March 19.
Most of us can relate to the frustration expressed by Judi Birnberg. The damage [from driving through potholes] is likely to affect the suspension and steering as much, if not more than, the tires. But the answer is to repair the potholes, timely and properly. If proper maintenance were carried out we wouldn’t have to go through costly and disruptive repaving so often.
It seems as if it is easier to get money for “improvements” such as repaving and so there is no incentive to make them last.
