Brewster Returns to City Council

Councilwoman Linda Brewster this week participated in her first council meeting in two years, beginning a two-year term with little fanfare.
“It felt like a comfortable pair of shoes,” Brewster said of the Wednesday meeting. “I’m ready to start pounding the pavement in them and get to work.”
Brewster, 50, left office in 1998 after two terms so she and her husband could travel. But she was picked to replace Mayor Pro Tem Mike McMahan, who resigned midway through his term to move to Piru.
McMahan had said he would feel better about leaving if he knew Brewster would be willing to replace him. Brewster accepted the position upon unanimous nomination at McMahan’s final meeting April 25.
