4 Saturday: Certificate of deposit yields are at five-year highs. To shop for the best yields, visit IMoneyNet’s site, above, or Bankrate.com’s site at https://www.bankrate.com.
4 Sunday: The average interest-bearing checking account yields 2.12%, up from 1.84% six months ago. Credit unions tend to offer the best deals, with higher rates and lower minimums than commercial banks. If you’re not a credit union member, check with your employer’s human resources department to see whether you’re eligible to join.
