HUNTINGTON BEACH

Ocean pollution has forced a surfing contest this weekend to relocate farther up the beach.
Huntington Beach’s Pro/Am Surf Series 2000 will now be held near Goldenwest Street, not by Brookhurst Street, where high levels of bacteria have been found in the coastal waters.
About 200 surfers from around the world are expected to attend the event, featuring amateurs Saturday and professionals Sunday.
Fans can watch for free. The event runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
