COLLEGE BASEBALL HONORS

Mike Kolbach of UC Santa Barbara, a junior from Mater Dei, was selected Big West baseball player of the week for going 6 for 11 with four runs batted in to help the Gauchos win two of three in a series against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo last weekend.

Rik Currier, a junior from USC and Capistrano Valley High, was selected co-pitcher of the year in the Pac-10, along with Justin Wayne of Stanford. Currier led the Trojans with a 12-3 record, 3.26 earned-run average and 122 strikeouts in 102 innings.
