7 TONIGHT IRVINE HIGH
The Pacific Coast League didn’t win a playoff game last season, but history isn’t likely to repeat itself because of University, which won its first outright league title. Quarterback Jay Nichols has made big plays in big games, and receiver Zack Sherwood leads the county with eight field goals. University has victories over three playoff teams. Los Amigos’ passing attack has been limited to 29.5% completions, two touchdowns and seven interceptions. In three nonleague games against teams with at least one victory, the Lobos were outscored, 134-14.
