The Division I-AA final features the state’s top two ranked teams. Top-seeded Poly’s only loss came Oct. 7 against Lakewood St. Joseph, the top-seeded team in Division II-A. Poly also defeated St. Joseph in five games in the first tournament of the season. San Clemente hasn’t lost a best-of-five match this season. The Tritons are bigger and have more firepower, but a scrappy Poly team defeated them Sept. 18 in the Dave Mohs tournament final, 15-8, 16-14. San Clemente will need a strong passing and defensive performance to win its first section title.
