Candidate Sets Record Straight

* First, let me commend The Times for producing the Voter Guide 2000 special issue on Sept. 5. It provides Orange County voters with a unique opportunity to see where all the candidates stand on critical issues.
However, I must take exception with your coverage of my views in the San Juan Capistrano City Council race. In talking with your reporter, I outlined several key issues, which were incorporated into the brief story--with the exception of one item.
You indicate that I want “more cameras installed to catch motorists who run red lights.” Ironically, I was the only candidate who has come out against the red light camera system. This could be easily confirmed based on my comments at four public candidate forums, my campaign materials as well as through my campaign Web site (https://www.mikeeggers.com).
