Orange Coast, Golden West in Water Polo Final

Freshmen Daylene Coberly scored four goals and Neisha Hoagland had three as Orange Coast scored early to sink Palomar, 12-5, in the semifinals of the women’s water polo state championships Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Kennedy played all but the last four minutes and made 10 saves. Orange Coast (29-7-1), ranked No. 2 in the state, meets No. 1 Golden West at 2:45 p.m. today for the state title. In another semifinal game:
Golden West 9, Riverside 6--Ana Korobova scored four goals and Helen Finucane had two goals to lead top-seeded Golden West (34-1) to the semifinal win.
In men’s water polo:
Citrus 10, Golden West 8--For the second straight year, the top-seeded Rustlers (31-3) lost a semifinal match to Citrus (24-9-1) in the state championships.
In the Southern California men’s soccer regionals:
Orange Coast 1, Santa Barbara 0--Matt Moseley scored in the seventh minute on a header off an assist by Dan Espinoza to give Orange Coast the quarterfinal win.
Santa Ana 8, Mt. San Antonio 1--Six players scored for Santa Ana in the quarterfinal win.
In the second round of the Southern California women’s soccer regionals:
Cypress 5, Mt. San Antonio 1--Former Valencia High star Alie Nunez scored all three of her goals in the game’s first 14 minutes for Cypress (24-0-1), which extended its unbeaten streak to 78 games.
