Regarding “Warming to Sierra Gold” (Weekend Escape, Oct. 29), in which the writer cites the Ranch House Cafe as being “at least one good reason to stop” in Olancha, Calif.: There is indeed another reason to stop--the Still Life Cafe, owned by two French-Moroccan sisters, at 580 U.S. Highway 395, across from the Mobil station. It offers French jazz plus terrific classic hamburgers, salads and sandwiches and daily specials such as smoked salmon ravioli and osso buco. Save room for the homemade profiteroles.
