Suspicious Package Disrupts Nader Talk

A harmless noisemaking device went off during an appearance by presidential candidate Ralph Nader at Rutgers University in Piscataway, forcing the evacuation of about 800 people, officials said. No one was hurt. The 2-inch-by-2-inch Mylar package made a popping noise in the back of a room at the university’s student center. It was not loud enough to disrupt the Green Party nominee as he addressed a rally of 500 people. Nader, rally attendees and 300 other people in the building were evacuated as authorities investigated.
