Bicycling Event to Benefit Animals

Animal lovers can put their mettle to their pedals Saturday during a fund-raiser for an animal rescue agency.
The bicycling event will benefit LIFE Animal Rescue, an Agoura Hills group that rescues animals from shelters in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
There are three courses of different distances, all relatively flat, and each participant receives a T-shirt, said Gina Cool, the event’s coordinator. This is the second year for the event, which aims to raise $4,000.
“I wanted something optimistic and healthy,” Cool said. “Bikes just represent such a happy existence.”
Cyclists will gather at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center, 23400 Park Sorrento, to ride on 10-, 25- or 50-mile courses beginning at 7 a.m.
To register, call 495-7233 or log on to https://www.active.com and click on cycling. The registration fee is $50.
