Two people were killed in separate traffic accidents in Glendale and Santa Clarita, authorities said.
The most recent accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. Thursday when a 39-year-old San Dimas man driving west on the Ventura Freeway in Glendale ran into a guardrail between the North Central Avenue and North Pacific Avenue exits, the California Highway Patrol said.
No other cars were involved, and the man was alone in the vehicle, officers said.
Authorities suspect the driver, who was wearing a seat belt, may have lost control of his car on the wet road.
The accident is under investigation.
In Santa Clarita, a 23-year-old Valencia woman was struck by a car about 8:25 p.m. Wednesday as she was walking across Bouquet Canyon Road near Bouquet Center, Los Angeles county sheriff’s officials said.
Yvette Juarez was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where she died a short time later.
The driver, Julie Ann Diaz, 32, of Saugus, was not injured and no charges have been filed. Sheriff’s deputies have asked witnesses to the accident to call (661) 255-1121, Ext. 5112.
