Larsen Is Medalist at U.S. Amateur Qualifier

Kevin Larsen of Santa Barbara shot a 36-hole total of seven-under-par 137 to take the top qualifying spot Tuesday at the SCGA Members’ Club in Murrieta during sectional qualifying for the U.S. Amateur golf championship.
His second-round total of five-under-par 67 was the day’s lowest score. Michael Derminio of Fallbrook and Sandy Horacek of Los Angeles also qualified, finishing two shots back to tie for second.
The U.S. Amateur is Aug. 20-26 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
