A former accounting clerk has pleaded not guilty to a charge of embezzling more than $250,000 from her employers at a Simi Valley furniture manufacturer.
Jaqulyn Ciraulo, 30, was charged with grand theft this month after investigators uncovered evidence allegedly showing she siphoned funds from Wambold Furniture between January 1997 and December 2000, prosecutors said.
The Simi Valley resident was the accounts-payable supervisor at the time.
During the arraignment Monday in Ventura County Superior Court, a status hearing was set for Sept. 12.
Wambold President Harvey Kallen said Monday that the company’s bank alerted him to suspicious activity in the business accounts earlier this year.
Kallen said police traced forged signatures on company checks and phony invoices to Ciraulo, who worked for Wambold for more than seven years.
