TLC Laser to Acquire Laser Vision Centers

Canada’s TLC Laser Eye Centers Inc. agreed to buy Laser Vision Centers Inc. for $98.6 million in stock, adding equipment and services to North America’s largest operator of laser eye-surgery centers.
Shareholders would get 0.95 TLC share for each Laser Vision share.
St. Louis-based Laser Vision provides equipment to more than 900 independent surgeons, and TLC operates centers in Canada and the U.S. The companies had combined revenue of more than $270 million in the most recent fiscal year.
The new company would be known as TLC Vision Corp.
Laser Vision shares jumped 62 cents, or 21%, to $3.63, and TLC fell 33 cents, or 7.6%, to $4.01, both on Nasdaq.
