Ventura County sheriff’s deputies continued searching Monday for the gunman who fatally shot a 21-year-old Nyeland Acres man Sunday and injured his 30-year-old friend.
Construction worker Ramiro Ahumada Jr. was shot to death shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday as he sat in a parked car in front of his home in the 2600 block of Eucalyptus Drive, just north of Oxnard, authorities said.
Albert Aparicio of nearby El Rio, who was also in the car, was treated for a gunshot wound at a local hospital and released.
A motive had not been established, but authorities were investigating the possibility that the shootings may have been gang related. Neither victim, however, has been identified as a gang member.
The gunman was described as Latino, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing dark pants and a light-colored sweatshirt at the time of the attack, authorities said.
