From Times Wire Reports
The Paul Harter Veterinary Medical Center will expand next month from two patient rooms to 25 to serve the San Diego Wild Animal Park’s 3,200 animals. The hospital is the first of several expansion projects at the park, which is affiliated with the San Diego Zoo. Officials hope to build a reproduction center for endangered species and a neonatal care center in the next three years.
The park paid $23 million for the new hospital, which replaces one built in 1969 when the park had 100 animals.
