They also set the standard for media such as oil painting, watercolor and sculpture. The artists included Anna A. Hills, Jessie Arms Botke, Mabel Alvarez, Eleanor Colburn and Elsie Palmer Payne.

The Prodigals, who topped those celebrated performers in a readers’ poll conducted by the Irish Echo newspaper. The quartet includes musicians from Ireland and New York and plays music described variously as “brogue rap . . . with an African bass line” and “a lean, tough blend of Dublin street songs and New York punk bluster.”
