Dot-com companies closed at a pace of more than two every business day in the first half of the year, with 330 ceasing operations worldwide since Jan. 1, according to a new report.
In all, 555 Internet start-ups have closed their doors since the beginning of 2000, more than three quarters of them in the last eight months, said San Francisco-based Webmergers.com, a research and advisory firm.
In June, 53 dot-coms shut down, compared with a record 60 in May.
