Bowers Museum of Cultural Art will feature the 1952 cowboy classic “High Noon,” starring Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly and Ian MacDonald. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, the 85-minute movie is a story of a just-married, small-town sheriff about to retire when he learns that a gunslinger is arriving on his wedding day to settle an old score. The screenplay was written by Carl Foreman, who was later blacklisted during the anticommunist hearings of the 1950s. The screening is part of a series called Classic Films of the American West hosted by movie producer, screenwriter and psychologist Michael Berlin.
* “High Noon,” Bowers Museum of Cultural Art, 2002 N. Main St., Santa Ana. 7-10 p.m. $3 for film members, $5 nonmembers. (714) 567-3600.
