Accused Molester Attempts Suicide

A Fontana middle school assistant principal arrested at his Redlands home over the weekend on suspicion of molesting two teenage boys tried to kill himself at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, officials said.
Lawrence Alan Proffitt, 42, was arrested Saturday and held on $1-million bail.
He had been scheduled for arraignment Wednesday, but at about noon on Tuesday, he slit his neck with a razor blade, San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Robin Haynal said.
