Good Start: I’d like to begin Saturday by working on a really great new song, and then I’d feel really good about myself. I like to see old friends and have a nice dinner. I’d go to Vida, in Los Feliz. I love the bread they have, with the cheese in it. I could just eat 20 of those. So I’d be prepared to gain a few pounds. I’m a vegetarian, and they have a couple good vegetarian dishes. Or I’d go over to the Newsroom because they have a couple good vegetarian dishes, too. So many places, they just have a plate of steamed vegetables. I’d rather eat cardboard.

Homebody: I never really go out and hear live music. I don’t like to go to clubs and concerts, places where there’s too many people. If it’s an artist I work with, I’ll go to show support, but really I’d rather buy the CD and listen to it at home.

Once More on to the Beach: I have a condo at the beach right now and just bought a house out there as a weekend place. I go out there on Sunday and write songs, then walk on the beach and go into Malibu for lunch. I try to take it easy, but for me, it’s hard. But I get a breath of fresh air and maybe see dolphins. It’s cool. Very calming.

Dinner, Movie and a Dwarf: A friend is coming on Saturday, but I can never figure out where to go for fun. We’ll maybe go to the Promenade if it’s a nice night, maybe walk around, maybe see a movie. I really want to see “Moulin Rouge.” I have a song--my first big hit, “Rhythm of the Night”--in there, sung by a dwarf. I just want to experience that.

Guests Beware: I like to have friends over for dinner, but I don’t know how to cook, so if they come over and want a home-cooked meal, they have to make it. When I moved out of my first house, I had a party and we wanted to heat up something in the oven. But I never used the oven, and it didn’t work. It apparently never worked, but I never knew it.
