Alleged Smuggler of Humans to Be Extradited

A former New York shopkeeper wanted by the FBI on charges of smuggling thousands of Chinese immigrants will be extradited to the U.S., authorities said.
Cheng Chuiping is believed to be one of the world’s biggest Chinese immigrant smugglers, or “snakeheads.” Investigators say she masterminded smuggling attempts involving as many as 3,000 immigrants, amassing a $40-million empire. She was arrested last year.
