Pepe Deluxe (El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd., L.A., [323] 936-4790). The Finnish trio mixes hip-hop, funk, psychedelia and you name it on its debut album, “Super Sound.” 8 p.m.
Jazz
Isaac Smith Big Band (Jazz Bakery, 3233 Helms Ave., Culver City, [310] 271-9039). The enthusiastic trombonist, best known for playing with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, leads his own hard-swinging big band. 8 p.m.
Music
Parisii Quartet (Leo S. Bing Theater, L.A. County Museum of Art, 5905 Wilshire Blvd., [323] 857-6010). On a Monday Evening Concert, the ensemble from France plays Beethoven’s String Quartets, Opus 127 and Opus 135, and three excerpts from Pierre Boulez’s “Livre.” Nos. 1a, 1b and 2. 8 p.m.
Ying String Quartet and Jon Nakamatsu (Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, Irvine, [949] 854-4646). For the Laguna Chamber Music Society, pianist Nakamatsu joins the ensemble in a program encompassing Three Rags by William Bolcom, solo piano pieces by Chopin, Kevin Putz’s “Dark Vigil of Youth” and Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, Opus 34. 8 p.m.
