Freddy Rodriguez

Rodriguez, a senior, gave up four hits and no earned runs in eight innings of work last week. Rodriguez, who
pitched a three-hit shutout in Wednesday’s 5-0 victory
over Ocean View, has allowed
only one earned run in 25 innings this season. Rodriguez also excelled offensively, going five for eight, including two doubles and two triples with six runs batted in during the Lions’ two Golden West League victories.

The sophomore swept three sets without losing a game in the No. 3 Warriors’ 10-8 victory over No. 8 Canyon.

He won three events at the Surf City Invitational, including the long jump with a county-leading mark of 22 feet 4 inches.
Michelle Sanford
Woodbridge, Track and Field
Sanford’s winning mark of 40 feet 5 3/4 inches in the triple jump at the Surf City Invitational in Huntington Beach is the top mark in
the state this season. Sanford, a
sopho-
more, became only the third girl from Orange County to surpass 40 feet in the event. Her previous best was 39-7 3/4, recorded last season. She also produced a mark of 19-5 3/4 in the long jump, the state’s second-best mark this season.

She gave up one hit and struck out 13 in a 2-1 complete-game victory over fifth-ranked Rosary on Tuesday.

Esperanza, Softball
The freshman center fielder was six for seven and scored three runs in two victories for No. 9 Esperanza.
