A $12-million grant from the federal government will allow the city to build a 90-unit complex for low-income seniors, city officials announced Monday.
The project is planned for 1449 East D St., the site of a crime-ridden apartment complex acquired by the city in 1997 and then demolished.
Residents who qualify will pay only 30% of their incomes in rent.
The Ontario Senior Housing Project “is going to clean up D Street,” Councilman Alan Wapner said.
