* A federal appeals court affirmed a lower court’s dismissal of a $1-billion lawsuit accusing R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Holdings Inc. of smuggling cigarettes into Canada. The Canadian government had filed the suit, claiming that the company was smuggling cigarettes in an effort to undercut the government’s plan to discourage smoking with high taxes.

* Eastman Kodak Co. increased its dividend for the first time in four years, by 2.3% to 45 cents, and said it will shift payments to a semiannual basis from quarterly to reduce costs.

* Kraft Foods Inc. said it will sell two businesses in Brazil and close three plants that employ 500 people elsewhere in South America as it integrates Nabisco operations. Terms of the sales were not disclosed.
