6 Priests Are Asked to Leave Archdiocese

Less than a week after the Archdiocese of New York said it gave the Manhattan district attorney’s office a list of cases involving priests accused of sexual misconduct with minors, six priests have been asked to step down because of past allegations.
The archdiocese’s statement said information concerning the six, whose names were not released, was included in information forwarded to Dist. Atty. Robert Morgenthau.
With 2.4 million members, the New York archdiocese is the nation’s third largest.
