Car Dealer Employees Sentenced for Fraud

Four high-ranking employees of an El Monte car dealership have pleaded no contest to various charges of defrauding customers by hiding costs and lying in contracts, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney.
James Michael Hoban, 46, of Irvine; Michele Kimberly Davis, 56, of Norco; Randolph Samuel Cooper, 37, of Irvine; and Donald Robert Poteete, 57, of San Marino, were sentenced to six-month jail terms, up to five years probation, fines and community service.
The four were, respectively, the general manager, finance director, used-car manager and finance manager of Gunderson Chevrolet. One other employee was sentenced in February to three months in jail and five years’ probation. Two other people are awaiting trial.
