Electricity to about 5,300 Anaheim residents was interrupted Wednesday morning when a substation transformer malfunctioned.
The Anaheim Public Utilities transformer at the Magnolia Street and Ball Road substation failed at 6:54 a.m. and caused a small electrical fire, said Melanie Nieman, spokeswoman for the utility.
Workers restored power to all but 100 customers by 9 a.m.; the remainder had power about 45 minutes later, Nieman said.
