Orange County coroner’s officials are examining human skeletal remains discovered by hikers off Ortega Highway, a sheriff’s spokesman said Wednesday.
Hikers in the Cleveland National Forest near El Cariso found the bones over the weekend, said Lt. Phil Johnson.
The coroner’s office is hiring an anthropologist to examine the remains. Johnson said officials aren’t sure how old they are.
“We don’t have an identification at this time,” Johnson said.
