Top Wrestlers Compete at Reno

The Reno Tournament of Champions, considered the top wrestling tournament in the nation, takes place today and Saturday at the Reno Livestock Events Center in Nevada.
Santa Ana Calvary Chapel, No. 1 in The Times’ Southland rankings, No. 4 Temecula Valley, Villa Park and Arroyo Grande are among the Southern Section teams that will participate with more than 80 other schools.
The Mann Holiday Classic wrestling tournament today and Saturday at Santa Ana College features No. 7 Orange El Modena, No. 9 Chino Hills Ayala and No. 10 Los Alamitos among its 39 teams.
Third-ranked North Torrance and No. 6 Rosemead will participate in the Rosemead wrestling tournament today and Saturday at Rosemead High.

Santa Margarita, the top-ranked boys’ soccer team in the Southland, Quartz Hill, Santa Barbara and La Canada St. Francis are among the 32 teams that will begin play today in the prestigious Student Sports tournament at the Ed Radice Sports Complex in Tampa, Fla. The tournament continues Saturday and concludes Monday.
