Rebuilding Day Expected to Attract 2,000 Workers

As many as 2,000 volunteers are expected at Rebuilding Day, an annual project that helps low-income seniors and disabled people make home repairs.
The April 27 countywide event is part of a national project formerly was known as Christmas in April.
In recent years, the Orange County group, based in Irvine, has rebuilt about 225 homes, fixing plumbing, roofs, wiring and making basic repairs, said Mary Martineau, spokeswoman for the effort in Orange County.
